Employee Spotlight: Bunty Chea
Bunty has been part of the Marick Group team since 2013. As Learning Consultant, he keeps busy helping to run the LMS show for Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
And just in case you’re wondering how to pronounce Bunty’s last name, it’s chee-uh – just like those tasty seeds that health fanatics are putting in their smoothies these days. Or if you’re not a health fanatic, maybe you’re familiar with Chia Pets.
The Early Days
After studying computer science at Virginia Commonwealth University, Bunty jumped into the professional world, working at a help desk for a tech company. His next stop was at Plateau Systems (acquired by SuccessFactors), where he worked for four years and learned lots about the Plateau software and the best ways to use it.
Bunty’s professional path then led him to the bright lights of New York City. He worked as a database administrator for Pepsi (where you are not allowed to have a Coke and a smile). He later returned to the Washington, D.C. area and worked for a competitor of Marick Group, before making the move to Marick Group at the recommendation of a colleague.
Like all of the talented people at Marick Group, Bunty is a busy guy. He works onsite at the Department of Defense several days a week, making sure their SuccessFactors Learning Management System is being used in the best way possible. To make this happen, Bunty keeps track of all of the DoD’s LMS administrators and users (there are 60,000 of them) and troubleshoots any system issues that arise. Quickly getting to the root cause of a system problem is Bunty’s specialty, and that allows Marick Group’s client to work more efficiently and effectively within their LMS.
Marick Group Magic
Bunty agrees with his colleagues – the learning and talent management industry has changed a lot in recent years. And Bunty believes that although the industry has grown, the number of industry administrators and consultants has stayed relatively the same. This means there are great opportunities out there for companies like Marick. And there are lots of great reasons why government agencies and private enterprises that are looking for learning or talent management support should put their trust in the Marick Group.
“Marick Group is a young, strong, talented group of individuals. And I really think our company represents the ‘new age’ workplace.”
Bunty shares, “Marick Group is a young, strong, talented group of individuals. And I really think our company represents the ‘new age’ workplace. Other industry consultants often view the systems they work with in a very limited light, and that’s where their expertise begins and ends. But Marick is a group of very out-of-the-box thinkers, with strong managers who lead the way in our unique approach to looking at and solving challenges. It makes a big difference in what we can do for our clients.”
Has Surfboard. Will Travel.
Snowboarding. Surfing, The thrill of traveling anywhere the wind takes him. Those are just a few of the things that Bunty enjoys doing when he’s not at the office. And he’s thankful for the work-life balance and employee-focused philosophy that Marick Group believes in.
